Clare have been defeated in the semi-finals of the Munster Minor football championship after falling foul to a late Tipperary surge.

Tipperary 0-16
Clare 2-09
Venue: Semple Stadium, Thurles.

Tipperary finished the game the stronger hitting three points in the final ten minutes to overturn a two point deficit as Clare led by two as the game entered its closing stages.

Captain, Keelan Sexton was one of the standout Clare performers as he kept both sets of umpires busy with an array of points. Miltown duo Sean Malone and Cormac Murray were lively up front with the latter notching 1-01 in the first half.

Kieran Kelleher’s side were dealt a last minute blow as O’Currys clubman Nigel Murray was omitted from the starting fifteen at the eleventh hour. Páraic McNamara and Seán O’Donoghue were ruled out of the clash through injury.

There was very little between the sides over the hour with the sides deadlocked at 1-03 to 0-06 at half-time. Although the Banner dominated the majority of the second half, their inability to seal the win proved costly.
