roadMembers of the public are being invited to meet with planning officials from Clare County Council next week in relation to the proposed Limerick Northern Distributor Road.

The public consultation takes place at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ennis Rd, Limerick, on Wednesday, 13 May, from 3pm to 8pm and relates to the proposed incorporation of the preferred route of the Distributor Road into the Clare County Development Plan 2011-2017 and South Clare Local Area Plan 2012-2018.

Once completed, the Limerick Northern Distributor Road will connect Coonagh Roundabout with the old Limerick/Dublin Road. Phase 1 of the project from Coonagh to Knockalisheen is presently under construction.

The Route Corridor for Phase 2 extends from the Knockalisheen end of Phase 1 and north of the University of Limerick (UL) before crossing the river Shannon to link up with the old Limerick/Dublin Road (R445) at the Cappamore junction. The proposed variation to the route features a University Link Road providing access to UL from the Clare side of the River Shannon at Gillogue.

Community groups, individuals and stakeholders are encouraged to make written submissions or observations (two copies) in respect of the Proposed Variation and Proposed Amendment which is publicly available to view between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. (up to Friday, 22nd May 2015) at Áras Contae an Chláir; all public libraries and Municipal District Offices throughout Clare.
