Ennis native Ava Mahony has been chosen as the 2015 Rose of Clare after beating off stiff competition at the Clare Rose Selection which took place at The Inn At Dromoland.

Despite some initial concerns less than a month ago over the lack of entrants, a total of thirteen ladies put themselves forward for selection as the Clare Rose. A large crowd gathered at the event which took place over the weekend.

Twenty five year old Ava Mahony, a finance graduate from the University of Limerick will now go forward to represent the Banner County in the Regional Finals which take place in the Portlaoise Heritage Hotel from Thursday May 28th until to Sunday May 31st. Mahony impressed the judges the most of all the contestants at the event hosted by TV3 Weatherman Deric Ó h’Artagáin.

Ava now succeeds Cratloe’s Joanne Gorman who made it all the way to the Dome in Tralee for the International Festival. Speaking following the event, Ms Mahony said it will be a privilege to represent her County.
