Gardaí investigating the discovery of a body at a house at Barrack Hill in Limerick City shortly after 5.30am this morning have arrested a man.
Gardaí responding to a call about an incident at a house discovered the body of a man in his late 30s or early 40s. The body remains at the scene, which has been sealed off and the office of the State Pathologist has been notified. The Garda Technical Bureau is expected at the scene later today.
Gardaí have arrested a man in his 50s at the scene and he is being detained at Roxboro Road Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
Barrack Hill is located near Wolfe Tone Street and O’Connell Avenue in Limerick City. Wolfe Tone Street remains closed to traffic.
