Bridge Utd kept the pressue on leaders Newmarket Celtic at the top of the Premier Division with victory over Avenue Utd in a very eventful game played in Sixmilebridge on Sunday. Ten minutes into the game Avenue were reduced to ten men after Scott Hennessey was sent off for kicking the ball away and dissent. Avenue recovered from this setback and took the lead on 15 minutes when a free kick from Paddy O’Malley deceived everyone in the box to nestle in the bottom corner. Bridge were back level on 20 minutes when Pa McMahon scored with a header. Avenue were now intent on sitting back and trying to catch Bridge on the break. Bridge were struggling to break down the defense and the game was 1 all at half time. Within ten minutes of the restart Avenue were down to 9 after Paddy O’Malley was given a straight red to dissent. Bridge weren’t creating many chances even with the Avenue down to 9 men until a loose ball out from the Avenue defense fell to Kevin Kelly and his shot was expertly struck into the top corner. No chance for James Tierney in the Avenue goal. Avenue still were dodged in defense and had a few half chances on the break. The game was over as a contest 20 minutes from the end when Avenue were reduced to 8 men after substitute Neill Slattery was sent off for a mistimed tackle and Bridge comfortably held out in the closing stages to secure the 3 points.

Coole FC 4-1 Sporting Ennistymon B
Coole FC finished off their league campaign in style in Lisdoonvara on Thursday night to reclaim top spot in the Third Divsion table. Coole started well and went in front when a through ball from Rafa Mamala to James Cosgrove was finished well as the keeper advanced off his line. Coole were getting a lot of joy on both wings and eventually got their 2nd goal when a Dave Cahill cross from the right found the head of Luke Kelly and he scored with a nice finish into the corner. The Coole defence was working hard and clearing alot of ball and near the break Coole struck for their 3rd of the night when a Darragh Reilly through ball found Dave Cahill and he struck a right foot shot into the corner. The score at halftime was 3-0 to Coole. The second half started same as first Coole on top creating chances but couldnt find the net and to their credit Ennistymon never gave up and they scored a cracker of a goal to bring the game back to 3-1 from a shot outside the box into the roof of the net. Having clinched the U19 title with victory over Burren Utd last month Newmarket entered this game needing at least a draw to add the Youths League title. In a well contested contest between two evenly matched teams 2 goals from Cathal Hayes and another from Aaron Rudd were enough to clinch the title on the day.
