Tulla picked up the U21 Hurling B title in a close fought encounter as they narrowly edged out Cratloe with three points to spare.
Venue: Cusack Park
Fresh legs proved vital for Tulla as both Diarmuid Murphy and Colm McGrath picked up crucial scores to secure the win.
Extra time looked to be on the cards in this one, that was until super sub Colm McGrath stepped up whose shot evaded the Cratloe defence and netminder Eoin O’Kelly. It was in fact the only goal conceded by the Cratloe side in the entire championship.
Physically, the men from the windswept hill were far superior and this had a telling impact on proceedings. Niall Bolton, Colin Corbett and Brian Fahy were the standout performers for the victors.
Shane Gleeson, Shane O’Leary and David O’Brien were the standard-bearers for Cratloe. While they will be disappointed to have came up short in this one, the entire fifteen that started for Cratloe are eligible for the grade next year so they will be confident of going one step further in 2016.
