Just two weeks before he steps down as VP and head of Google Ireland to pursue new opportunities, John Herlihy will address Shannon Chamber members and their business associates at a luncheon in Dromoland Castle Hotel this coming Wednesday.
The Limerick-native’s address will take the form of a fast-paced on-stage interview with marketing guru John Fahy, Professor of Marketing at the University of Limerick and cover a range of diverse issues from the general to the specific on topics such as innovation and business growth, and important technological trends that will impact business.
The lunch, which is sponsored by VHI Healthcare, will commence with registration at 12.30pm and conclude at 2.30pm.
Speaking ahead of the event, which is attracting great interest among the business community, Shannon Chamber’s chief executive Helen Downes said: “It’s often said that persistence pays and in this instance it most certainly has; we’ve been trying to secure John Herlihy for an event such as this for a long time and are delighted that it’s now happening. He has such a wealth of knowledge and experience in the corporate and technological spheres. He has grown Google Ireland from a company of 50 employees to more than 2,500 and as well as expanding their operations in Dublin he set up Google’s first centre for digital excellence in Europe. What is happening in Google in Ireland is powering digital undertakings in over 100 countries.
“What better person to moderate this event and get into the mind of a man that has done so much to place Ireland on the digital map than John Fahy, Professor of marketing at the University of Limerick, an award-winning international researcher and teacher with a distinguished track record in the fields of marketing and business strategy. We’re excited about this event; it’s a completely new format for our lunches and we expect it will generate a lot of lively interaction between the presenters and the audience,” added Ms Downes.
