County Clare is being searched high and low as the attempt to find Joanne O’Gorman’s successor as the Clare Rose is well and truly underway.
Surprisingly the hunt is proving to be quiet difficult for all involved in the Clare Rose of Tralee Centre. Ciarán O’Connell, the Clare Rose of Tralee co-ordinator admits to being “bewildered as to why applications are down on other years”.
Despite the fact that the Banner County are celebrating a rare feat of having ten full years of Clare roses, the women of Clare are proving to be quiet reluctant to step forward for selection in 2015.
All entrants must be between the age demographic of 18-27. Candidates must be female, born in Ireland, an Irish citizen or Irish through origin or have had ancestors hailing from the Emerald Isle. Those who are married or have previously been married cannot enter. Applicants outside of Ireland are required to have lived in the region they wish to represent for the past twelve months.
Contenders who have represented any Centre in a regional or international selection are prohibited from submitting an entry. Also, those interested must be available for Rose Selection events and if selected the consequent Regional and International Festival.
The 2015 Clare Rose selection will take place on Saturday April 25th at The Inn at Dromoland at 20:00. Deadline for all entries is Friday April 3rd. To apply click on http://www.roseoftralee.ie/roses or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
A big plea is being put towards the women of Clare to get their application in. According to O’Connell the hardest step is filling out the application form and he has urged individuals who have an inkling of a possible candidate to get in touch with their Facebook Page.
Who knows you could be the 2015 Clare Rose, all you have to do is enter. The song below may help some females currently sitting on the fence.
