Clare Sinn Féin will hold a public meeting next week to highlight the issues affecting rural areas in County Clare.

The North Clare Love Rural Ireland Public Meeting begins at 8pm in ‘O’Donoghues’ Fanore on Thursday 2nd April

Speakers will include Sinn Féin Senator Trevor Ó Clochartaigh; Pat McCarthy of the ‘United Farmers Association’ and Enda Connolly from the ‘No to Galway Bay Fish Farm’ campaign.

Clare Sinn Féin’s Noeleen Moran, who is co-ordinating the Public Meeting said, ‘we believe in growth for rural Ireland, not the implementation of austerity through cuts to schools and third level education, community healthcare, rural post offices and to policing. These are cuts that leave people vulnerable and isolated.’

‘Rural Ireland has it’s own unique set of qualities and that by building on agriculture and the fishing industry, County Clare’s rural economy will be sustained with meaningful employment

Ms Moran, also said, “it’s time for a fight back against the governments austerity policies, which are having devastating consequences acrosss rural communities, especially in Co, Clare. Local people, also should be allowed to be involved in all decisions which effect their future”.
