Study says 7,500 Clare residents taking anxiety pills

anxietyA study published in today’s Irish Examiner estimates that 7,500 Clare residents take anxiety pills.

The research into the use of anti-depressants finds that 7.2% of people in the County receive the medication. In Limerick, 10% of the total population was prescribed anti-anxiety pills or anti-depressants, the highest percentage in the country.

2.3 million prescriptions were written for anxiety drugs in Ireland in 2012.
