Clare 2-22
Dublin 2-20
Venue: Cusack Park

Clare got their NHL campaign off and running after overturning a five point gap with twenty minutes remaining to get the vital victory.

Despite plenty of media coverage in relation to off the field activities, Davy Fitzgerald’s side put in their strongest display of the year to date. Fresh from their Fitzgibbon Cup success with UL, both David McInerney and Tony Kelly epitomised what the team was about with exceptional performances.

Dublin will be disappointed leaving Ennis having dominated the encounter for large periods. They started both halves the better with goals from Cian Boland and David O’Callaghan early on. Ger Cunningham’s side failed to take full advantage of the dismissal of Clare’s Brendan Bugler as the Clare attack took control in the second half.

Next up for the Dubs is a home tie with Galway next weekend while Davy Fitzgerald’s side travel to Nowlan Park to take on All-Ireland Champions Kilkenny.
