At just twelve years of age, Adam Moloney of Shannon, Co Clare is proving to be one of the most exciting musical talents as recent performances have received critical acclaim along with attracting the interest of highly regarded acoustic folk rock band ‘Hermitage Green’.

Having had an interest in music all his life, it is no real surprise that Adam’s reputation is rapidly spreading all over the country. Over the last four months, the St Aidans student has really focused on his music with emphasis being put on his repertoire and style along with extra guitar lesson, all under the guidance of manager Linda Ní Thuathaigh.

Adam’s first concert was in December last whilst performing at a school Christmas Extravaganza in front of over eight-hundred people. Since then Adam has gone from strength to strength with the gigs getting bigger and better. An invitation to perform alongside ‘Hermitage Green’ on February 14th at The Orchard Bar, Limerick is one such example.

Following his performance with ‘Hermitage Green’, Adam was selected as a finalist in the national competition ‘Show Us Your Talent’ organised by George McMahon known more commonly as Mondo from RTÉ soap ‘Fair City’. Moloney eased his way through the audition process and was selected as one of the final ten competitors from all over Ireland.

On the night of the final, the Shannon singer/songwriter wowed the judges with his self-penned song ‘You’re the One for Me’. Adam won the competition after receiving an astounding 40/40 total from the four different judges.

Earlier on in this week, one of Ireland’s most popular website JOE.ie shared Adam’s cover of the Ed Sheeran track ‘Thinking Out Loud’. The reaction has been extremely positive to the Adam’s rendition with writer Tony Cuddihy suggesting it is better than the real thing.

The gifted Shannon singer/songwriter’s musical idol is indeed Ed Sheeran. The future is certainly bright for the twelve year old and he is more than capable to follow in the footsteps of his idol. One thing is for sure, he will continue to silence the crowds just like he did when performing ‘Thinking Out Loud’.

Check out some of Adam’s performances below.
