Finbarr MacGabhann, a member of the Peadar Clancy Mairead Farrell Cumann Ennis was elected Rúnaí of the Ireland South Cuige of Sinn Fein at the Ireland South Cuige AGM held in Cahir, Co. Tipperary at the weekend.

“Finbarr has been a prominent Sinn Fein activist for many years as a member of Ennis Sinn Fein and the Clare constituency and his appointment is a recognition by the AGM of his tremendous work and abilities and is an honour for Ennis and Clare Sinn Fein” said Caoimhin O Hailpin Cathairleach of the Ennis Cumann Sinn Fein.

The Cuige covers the six Munster counties and the south Leinster counties of Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford and Wicklow. The AGM was attended by Gerry Adams TD Uachtarain Sinn Fein and Liadh Ni Riada MEP who both addressed the meeting.

Mr Adams, spoke about the ‘nightmare economics’ of the political elite of FG, Labour and FF in government. Their “austerity policies” will be challenged by Sinn Féin, at the next General Election, he said. Gerry Adams also remembered that Bobby Sands began the second H-Block Hunger Strike 34 years ago 1st March 1981.
