Tuamgraney’s Diarmaid Nash secured his place in the last four of the O’Neills Sportswear All-Ireland Men’s Senior Singles Championship after defeating Dublin’s Eoin Kennedy.

The current Munster Champion overcame the challenge of fourteen time senior champion Eoin Kennedy defeating the Dublin man in both games 21-18 21-14. Kennedy had been in action the day before in a qualifier match which saw endure a tricky clash with Cavan’s Michael Finnegan. In the end the former NUI Maynooth lecturer beat Finnegan 21-10 21-10.

Next up for Clare’s Diarmaid Nash is a semi-final bout with Armagh man Charlie Shanks who is the current Ulster champion. That game will take place at Kingscourt in Cavan. The other semi-final pairing sees reigning All-Ireland champion Robbie McCarthy face off with Meath’s Brian Carroll.

As well as being crowned All-Ireland Champion, the overall winner of the championship will get the honour of being the Irish team captain at this year’s World Championships.
