Dunne To Link Up With Magpies

New Clarecastle trainer Tommy Dunne

New Clarecastle trainer Tommy Dunne

Former Tipperary Senior Hurling captain, Tommy Dunne is the new trainer of the Clarecastle Senior Hurling team.

Dunne is part of a new look management which sees Tony Kelly take the reigns as manager after serving as a selector last year. Leonard McNamara and Paddy Quinn will act as selectors for the Magpies in the 2015 captain.

Toomevara man Dunne was trainer of the Tipperary Senior Hurlers under Declan Ryan for two years. He was part of Anthony Daly’s management team with the Dublin hurlers for the past two seasons.

Clarecastle reached the semi-finals of the Clare Senior Hurling Championship in 2014 only to go down to eventual champions Cratloe on a scoreline of 4-14 to 1-19. Rodgie McMahon and Fergie O’Loughlin vacated the positions of manager and trainer respectively after their requests to take charge of both the Clarecastle U21 and Senior teams which would assist more players in making the transition to Senior level was denied.

Having shown great progress over the last twelve months, the appointment of Tommy Dunne to the management team can only be a positive move for the Magpies.
