Clare Duo Receive Ashbourne All-Stars

Hurley Sliotar and Football

Clare Senior Camogie players Laura McMahon and Niamh O’Dea were rewarded for their performances in the Ashboune Cup as they were both selected on the All-Star team of the competition.

Both McMahon and O’Dea were part of the University of Limerick team that reached the final of the Ashbourne Cup losing to Waterford Institute of Technology on a scoreline of 2-12 to 0-12.

Newmarket-on-Fergus native Laura McMahon lined out at full back for UL but was selected at corner back on the All-Star team. Niamh O’Dea of the Kilmaley camogie club was chosen as centre-back on the selected side.

The UL students are both PE teachers in the making and while the 2014 Ashbourne Champions will be disheartened not to have completed a two-in-a-row, the personal honours may act as some sort of consolation for O’Dea and McMahon.
