Four held following Galway robbery

Gardaí are investigating all the circumstances of the incident

Gardaí in Galway city are investigating an armed robbery at a Jewellery shop on Shop Street Galway this morning.

At approximately 10.45am four masked men entered the Jewellery shop, one of the men was armed with is described as a firearm. They threatened staff and took a substantial amount of Jewellery including watches.

All four men fled on foot from the area.  No injuries were sustained during the incident.

In a follow up operation Gardaí arrested four men in Galway City. All property has been recovered and an imitation firearm was also recovered.

All four men are currently detained at Galway Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 – Criminal Justice Act 1984.
