Wind Alert issued

ALERTMet Éireann has issued a wind warning for Friday night and Saturday.

The Yellow Alert relates to northwest to north winds reaching mean speeds of 50 to 64km/h and gusting to between 90 and 109km/h.

A 87kph gust was recorded at Shannon Airport last evening as strong northwest winds swept down across the country.

Meanwhile, Met Éireann says our weather will stay largely cold but dry over the next week. There is an ongoing risk of wintry showers from time to time however, with a more organised band of sleet and snow possible on Monday.
