All change for Sinn Féin in Shannon area

It was all change at the January AGM of Sinn Féin in the Shannon Electoral Area with Brian Higgins becoming the new Cathaoirleach.

The Newmarket-on-Fergus man is a former full-time Mandate trade union official as its Mid-West Divisional Organiser.

Mr Higgins stated, the 1916 Easter Rising Centenary and the upcoming General Election in Co Clare will be the main focus for Sinn Féin, locally in 2015 and also to further party growth in the Shannon area.

Rúnaí elected is well known Anti-Water Charges campaigner Donna McGettigan.

Ms. McGettigan was part of the leadership of the massive anti-water charges march last November in Shannon and a speaker at the last Ennis Protest March.

Peter Flannigan was elected PRO and Clare Cllr Mike McKee comhairle ceantair delegate.
