Clare Cup Draw Takes Place

The pairings for the first round of the Prego Menswear Clare Cup have been finalised following the draw at Prego Menswear in Skycourt, Shannon.

Cup holders, Newmarket Celtic A have been drawn against Third Division side, Corofin Harps B. Second placed side in the Premier Division, Bridge United have been paired against West Clare FC in a tie they will be expected to win. Despite a mixed season, AvenueUnited A may be able to make tracks with a strong Cup campaign, they have been assigned Rhine Rovers in the first round.

Tulla United A will face Second Division leaders, Kilrush Rangers and they will be looking to Darragh Corry to set the right example in this clash. Two evenly matched teams in Ruan United and Coole FC go head to head in the first round. Newmarket Celtic B will be hoping to cause an upset as they will be underdogs versus Hermitage A. The Tage will be busy as their B team are also in action as they face Treaty Celtic. The remaining fixture sees Ennis Town B come up against Shannon Olympic B.

Provisional fixtures have been made for round two. Confirmed fixtures include the clash of Third Division rivals Sporting Ennistymon B and Tulla United B. An interesting affair is anticipated between Burren United who have been going well in recent games and Rineanna Rovers under the guidance of Conor Breen. Last year’s beaten finalists Ennis Town A will aim to go one step further in 2015 and their journey begins against Kilmaley Fern Celtic.

In the Clare U17 Cup, age-old rivals Avenue United and Newmarket Celtic face off in the quarter finals. Ennis Town have been paired with Burren United, whilst Moher Celtic and Tulla United are also vying for a place in the last four.

Only four teams are entered in the Michael O’Gorman Youths Cup and they’ve been automatically put into the semi-finals. Ennis Town take on Newmarket Celtic while Avenue United will battle Burren United for a place in the final.

Both Bridge United and Avenue United have received straight byes to the semi-finals of the Clare U19 Cup. Ennis Town will become acquainted with Burren United in the last eight while the remaining fixture sees the clash of Kilmaley Manus and Newmarket Celtic managed by photographer Brian Arthur, who will be hoping its all smiles after the final whistle.
