An estimated 15% more passengers will make the journey home over Christmas period through Shannon Airport.

The Christmas travel period began in earnest at the weekend and by the first week in January, some 51,000 will have used Shannon Airport on mainland European, UK and US services to get to and from their chosen Christmas destination.

Last Christmas saw passenger numbers for the festive season grow for the first time in six years and this year they are up by almost 45% on Christmas 2012.
