Met Eireann has a Orange Wind Alert in place for Clare with gusts of between 100 and 130kph winds forecast for today.
The day will be very windy or stormy with westerly winds reaching mean speeds of 50 to 70 km/hr and gusting to speeds of 100 to 130 km/hr.
Clare County Council is urging land, home and business owners in flood prone coastal locations to remain vigilant over the next 24 hours due to a heightened risk of coastal and tidal flooding.
People in coastal areas of County Clare which have flooded in the past should take note that, due to high winds, very high waves and associated tidal surges, there is a high risk of coastal flooding in such areas until Thursday morning (11th December), in particular at times of high tides.
Irish Ferries has cancelled a number of services between Holyhead and Dublin. Meanwhile, Malin Head in Donegal recorded a 128kph gust of wind this morning, while Mace Head in Galway saw a 120kph gust.
